Ivan was dux of Epping Boys High, back in 1965.  He went onto UNSW to study Commerce on a Commonwealth Scholarship and was asked to read honours in both Economics and Accounting. He chose accounting, graduating with a B Com (Hons).  He went to work in his father’s accounting practice whilst lecturing part-time and achieving his Masters whilst also studying part- time.

He joined his father and brother as a partner in D R Gow & Co on 1 July 1971. The firm performed some audits but mainly accounting and taxation work with advice in those areas primarily to small business. Ivan’s father retired in 1980, while Ivan and his brother and continued the practice which they subsequently sold to Daley & Co on 1 July 2014. Ivan continues to look after his portfolio of clients.

A devout Christian, he has long been very involved with his local church and various other Christian organisations – twice National President of one of those organisations. His wife, Sandra, died in 2005 but he has a daughter, son and six grandchildren. He holds a private pilot’s licence but has now given up flying.  His main outlets are his family, the various Christian organisations he is involved with and, whilst not addicted, cappuccinos.
